- God calls all of us: young and old, prepared and completely unprepared, new to the faith and familiar with the faith – we each have a role to play in God’s world and we each have a responsibility to listen for the call of God in our lives.
- We need help hearing and discerning God’s call: we need one another to help in both hearing and responding to the call of God.
- God loves to do a new thing: God calls not just once but throughout our lives again and again and again. So be glad! There are abundant opportunities to respond to God’s grace, love, and direction.
-Rev. Ashley Wilkinson Meyer
“[T]he kind of work God usually calls you to is the kind of work, (a) that you need most to do, and (b) that the world most needs to have done. The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
-Frederick Buechner, “Wishful Thinking: A Seeker’s ABC”
“God has gifted [each of] us to make the world and the church better. God wants us to be a part of the body of Christ and enrich it with our presence. That is what God calls us to do. The point is to say yes to our own call and then to sound it in the community so that others may partner with us. They help us live out our call in practical and life-changing ways.”
