“WHAT HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO”
1 Corinthians 15:54-58 (NIV)
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
“With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time or effort.”
– I Corinthians 15:58
Translation by Eugene Peterson
“Then the saying will come true: Death swallowed by triumphant life! Who got the last word on Death? Oh, Death, who is afraid of you now?”
I Corinthians 15:54 – 55
“Therefore – because all this is so – because there is a life hereafter – let this life here be worthy of it.”
I Corinthians 15:58
Translation by William Barclay
“What you think about the future, shapes your life.”
